WORKSHOP 4: AR/MR/VR Color Perception and Rendering
Conveners: Jiangtao Kuang, color imaging scientist, Meta, Inc., and Kaida Xiao, professor, University of Leeds (UK)
Duration: 2 hours
Workshop Time: 15:45 - 17:45
Description
This workshop aims to bring together researchers and industry experts to explore the latest advances in color perception and rendering for augmented, mixed, and virtual reality (AR/MR/VR) applications. As immersive technologies continue to evolve, accurate color reproduction and perceptual consistency across diverse environments and display systems have become critical challenges. This workshop covers topics such as color appearance modeling, perceptual rendering techniques, display color calibration, camera color pipelines, and user evaluation methods. Through invited talks, panel discussions, and open dialogue, the workshop seeks to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and spark new ideas to advance the state of the art in AR/MR/VR color science.
The workshop begins with technical presentations covering diverse perspectives on color science, display, perception, and rendering in AR/MR/VR environments. It is followed by interactive time where invited speakers explore open questions, challenges, and future directions in perceptual color rendering for immersive systems.
