Course Description: The course will be a mix of presentation and practical exercises and progress through the following topics with plenty of opportunity for questions and group discussion:
- 3D data optimization using open source tools
- Uploading 3D models to Sketchfab
- How to link and reference meta- and paradata
- 3D scene setup in Sketchfab including materials, lighting, post processing, scale
- Publishing options for 3D (embeds, AR/VR)
- Open Access 3D data: examples of OA programs and creative re-use of data
- Extending 3D experiences with Sketchfab's APIs
Thomas Flynn began working in 3D digitization at the British Museum and subsequently co-founded http://museuminabox.org. In his current role as Cultural Heritage Lead at Sketchfab, Flynn supports cultural organizations and projects of all sizes in developing and delivering 3D digitization, display, and outreach programs. Flynn is also co-chair emeritus of the IIIF 3D Community Group.
