Join us in online in 2021!

While the move to an online platform means that how you access all the great information and interactions you get each year at EI changes, you can be assured you'll get the same great content, as well as meaningful ways to interact with others. As details are confirmed regarding the Symposium Online Portal and accessing it, additional information will be posted on this page

Accessing the Symposium

Access links to live events on the EI Symposium Portal.

ADD papers/events TO YOUR CALENDAR
Use the Itinerary Planner to help you schedule your time at EI. The Planner shows NY times, but when you are logged in and add to your calendar, it will transfer the paper times to your time zone. You can also use it to look up speakers.

Access to the Symposium will be granted to those who register for the event. Registrants will receive a "Thank you for registering" email while the portal is under construction. Once the portal is open, paid registrants will then receive a "Welcome to EI 2021" email with all the information and instructions on how to access the Symposium portal and the EI2021 CONNECT Discord server.

IMPORTANT:
Don't miss email notifications by adding "Marion Zoretich via Society for Imaging Science & Technology <[email protected]>" to your white list.

While attendees will be able to see all the events held as part of the Symposium, as at the in-person event, access to short courses will be limited to those who have paid for a class.

How an online event works

As with an in-person event, attendees enter different "rooms" to take a course, listen to a talk, view a poster or product demonstration, and visit the exhibit hall. The rooms in the EI 2021 online portal are color-named to match the room names stated in the posted online program. We will use applications like Zoom and GoToTraining for courses, sessions, and social events. These applications allow you to see and hear other participants.

Participant Interaction

In addition to virtual Symposium-wide coffee breaks and discussion sessions, individual conferences may hold online social events. Applications like Zoom and GoToTraining will allow attendees to see and talk with each other. In addition, you will be able to contact other participants directly via the EI2021 CONNECT Discord server.

Online Meeting Protocols

As with an in-person event, we expect that everyone will follow professional norms of conduct. Additionally, we will ask everyone to set their names on platforms like Zoom, GoToTraining, and Discord to First/Given Name, Last/Family Name, and Affiliation, similar to a badge that you would wear at an in-person event.

Recording of Courses and Session

By attending EI2021 Online you are granting permission to have your likeness, talk, oral comments, and/or chat recorded and possibly posted. All talks and courses will be recorded and shared with other attendees. Some talks may be posted to the EI YouTube channel. Some courses may be made available to non-attendees via online course purchases.
