Manchester, UK

30 March - 1 April 2020

Event Overview

Advanced Materials for Fabrication brings together four tracks around the common theme of materials. These tracks are:

  • Advanced Materials
  • Degradation of Materials
  • Materials for Security Printing
  • Institute of Physics Printing & Graphics Science Group Student Conference

Advanced Materials

Advanced Materials will play a key role in the future applications and processes of device fabrication. This conference is held in association with the Henry Royce Institute and the Manchester Bioelectronics Network. Topics include:

  • Materials for Additive Manufacturing
  • Biomaterials
  • Bioelectronics
  • Bio-applications
  • Use cases

Degradation of Materials

This track explores how issues related to degradation are emerging as concerns in different directions and in multiple applications. Materials degradation becomes a positive force in recycling and the circular economy but a negative one in conservation, display and secure documents. Bringing together established communities such as photo conservators, artists and security printers with emerging players such as organic photovoltaics, sensor systems and printed electronics will allow us to share common ground and learning points.

As such this session will explore boundaries between the art and science of materials degradation. This conference is held in association with the The Royal Photographic Society. Topics include:

  • Circular economy
  • Degradation of materials in emerging and existing applications
  • Photograph conservation, display, and storage

Materials for Security Printing

This track examine the materials for physical documents and the novel characteristics required for security. This track is sponsored by Reconnaissance International.

Institute of Physics Printing & Graphics Science Student Conference

Hear from advanced student and postgraduate researchers on their work in all aspects of printing applications and processes. This annual conference is sponsored by the Institute of Physics Printing & Graphic Sciences Group.
