The Venue: Anchorage, Alaska
Anchorage, Alaska, with it’s Northern Lights, nearby glaciers, native arts, and frontier culture will host NIP23. Join us for what promises to be an exciting technical meeting combine with an incredible travel experience! A small city by most standards, Anchorage is the perfect location from which to explore the wonders this part of the world has to offer, whether via day or overnight trips. While small in size, Anchorage has a wide selection of restaurants—from fine dining establishments to brewpubs—a vibrant art scene, and interesting museums and stores to explore. You can spend a day viewing wildlife or trekking through a glacier valley and be back in the city in time for dinner. The headquarter hotel for NIP23 is the Hilton Anchorage, site of tutorials and the Welcome Reception. Technical sessions and the exhibit will take place at the Anchorage Convention Center, located a block from the hotel. To help keep travel budgets down and offset the cost of air-fare, we’ve secured rooms for $125/night single/double at the Hilton. More information on housing will be available with the release of the preliminary program. There are direct flights from many cities in the US to Anchorage. At this time, there are direct flights from Frankfurt via Condor (a division of Lufthansa, www. condor.com) on Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday—the current fare is €400 one way and already bookable—and on China Airlines (www.china-airlines.com/en/index.htm) from Taipei on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (return on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday). Flights from Frankfurt and Taipei take approximately 9 hours. Current lowest published fares from major cities will be updated here weekly. Average Anchorage temperatures in September hover around 57°F/14°C, with showers a possibility. Daylight averages 14.25 hours. A special treat is that the Northern Lights should be visible by this time of year. To learn more about Anchorage and what it has to offer, visit www.anchorage.net.
