Introduction

It is your conference if you work in digital printing technology and non-impact printing! There are more than 25 tutorials to choose from, over 200 papers, and over 800 attendees. NIP brings together all the key players in the field from universities and industry from all over the world. Among a host of related products and services, are exhibits featuring inks and toners, papers, films, and test equipment. There are keynote papers, and invited papers that give an overview concerning the most important trends in imaging, as well as special events offering many opportunities for networking. We invite your participation. Submit a paper or tutorial proposal, reserve an exhibit space, or simply plan to attend the conference in Baltimore next fall. Join us at the special events throughout the conference for informative views of the future direction of digital printing technologies.

Invited Papers Program

IS&T looks forward to welcoming you to NIP21 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland. NIP21 will have an extensive program of invited papers and special topic sessions to complement the contributed papers sessions.

Keynotes

A highlight of NIP21 will be keynote addresses by leading authorities in the industry and in science. Keynotes bring a broad perspective to industry-wide issues, important technical achievements and market trends by internationally known speakers from North America, Europe, and Asia. This year’s keynotes will look at latest trends in imaging in a mobile world, supplies for electrophotography, organic electronic devices and feature an overview of nanotechnology in imaging.

Special Topics Sessions

Another highlight of NIP21 will be a number of special topic sessions offering invited presentations by experts in key areas related to digital printing and digital imaging. Special Topic Sessions will survey developments in the field and present the authors’ new contributions, giving conference participants an invaluable opportunity to learn more about both emerging and core technologies. Invited papers from world-reknowned leaders will discuss the current status of these special topics:

  • Digital Art
  • Electronic Paper and Paper-like Displays
  • Production Digital Printing
  • Sensors in Imaging
  • Nanotechnology in Imaging Science & Instrumentation

Forums and Panel Discussions

As a NIP21 participant, you won’t want to miss the forums and panel discussions on topics of current interest.

Panel Discussion on Intellectual Property & Legal Aspects in Digital Printing

This panel will address the impact of national and international law on innovation in imaging and important aspects of patent, copyright and trademark protection. Interested parties should contact the organizer, Dr. Yee S. Ng at Yee_Ng@nexpress.com or 585-726-3935

Print Gallery & Art Gallery

  • The Print Gallery enables an up-close, detailed look at the performance capabilities and relative advantages of various printing technologies on paper and traditional media. A test image will be provided for benchmarking to allow comparison of technologies. Interested parties should contact the organizer Dr. Huoy-Jen Yuh at Huoy-Jen.Yuh@usa.xerox.com or 585-422-4684.
  • The Art Gallery will be held in conjunction with the special session on Digital Art and will show how artists use digital print and new imaging materials today. For more information contact the organizer Annette Jaffe at annette_jaffe@earthlink.net or 408-298-8688.

Invitation to Participate in the Conference for Digital Fabrication

NIP 21 will be co-located with the IS&T’s first conference on Digital Fabrication Technologies (DF01) headquartered at the Sheraton Inner Harbor. By exploiting traditional non-impact printing approaches and new printing approaches, it is now possible to pattern and print two- and three-dimensional structures at physical scales ranging from nanometers to meters. Recent work has shown that it is possible to digitally fabricate a wide variety of devices including electronic circuits, MEMs and NEMs structures, architectural components, and even biologically engineered structures. NIP21 and DF01 participants can listen to talks in both conferences.
